Tokyo Disney Resort

Earlier this year Tokyo Disney Resort celebrated it’s 25th anniversary on April 17th with a snazzy new TV ad campaign to get you to visit again.  The resort had 5 stages of celebration to “Unlock Your Dreams”. The Opening stage lasted from April 15 -July 7.  The Jubilation stage from June 15th featured a daytime parade. the Tokyo Disney Sea Spring Carnival was from April 15- June 30.   The April Art Festival lasted from April 15-August 31 and the Tanabata program was from July 1 to July 7th.

If you missed the fun, you can still see the excitement from the Disney Resort TV ad (no Konishiki singing in this Disney ad!)

Maid Cafe offers Big Bang Lovely Burger for hungry otaku

Japanese maid cafe Big Bang Lovely Burger

Visiting Maid Cafes in Akihabara is serious otaku activity. While the atmosphere, company and service is what most otaku are after, the quality of the food is seldom talked about.

One maid cafe and bar, Maidreamin, located along Choudori on the 6th floor of the Sumiyoshi Building,  in Akihabara has started offering a huge portion of food called the “Big Bang Lovely Burger ビッグバンLOVE.”

Maidreamin specializes in foods with emoticon themes and the”Big Bang Lovely Burger,” is just one of the items listed on the popular “Gigantic Menu” and is limited to only three orders per day.  The dish features rice topped with a soft boiled egg and a 500g  ground beef patty. The dish is about the size of a notebook computer covered in demi-glace sauce and weighs about one kilogram.  We wonder how long Gal Sone would take to finish this?

Mariah Carey pitches at the Tokyo Dome

Mariah Carey Tokyo Dome

Earlier this year when Mariah Carey came to Japan to promote her album E=MC2, she also threw out the the opening pitch at the Yomiuri Giants v Rakuten Eagles match at the Tokyo Dome. Only such a global superstar can generate so much TV coverage for such a simple event. She can’t throw to save her life but she still looks sexy for a 38 year old. Just check out her high heels!

More photos here.

Cho! Very Good Comic!Cho! Very Good Comic!

In August 2006, Japanese magazine publisher Tokyo Sanseisha 東京三世社 started publishing a magazine aimed at the otaku market that combined Japanese style comics called manga and gravure (bikini) models.  The magazine called Cho! Very Good Comic! チョベリグコミック costs under 1000 yen.

The magazine does feature more of the very tanned Ganguro bikini models  (but unfortunately not of the now retired Juno) if you like dark skinned Japanese girls.
